Infrastructure Manager – Server/Networks (Windows environment, VMWare, Cisco) - Canary Wharf to £70,000 plus great benefits!

Canary Wharf based client with a turnover @19 Billion has an urgent opportunity for an Infrastructure Manager with a good technical understanding of both Server platforms (Windows Server 2008/20012, SQL Server, virtualisation VMware) and Network platforms (Wintel, Cisco) and a good understanding of ITIL best practices. Although this role requires someone with a strong technical understanding of an Infrastructure environment ideally from an Infrastructure Engineer background it’s a pretty much hands-off role as you are required to lead teams that support a European MPLS structure.

Your responsibilities as Infrastructure Manager are to provide the strategic direction for the infrastructure function on a European level by leading the development of infrastructure strategy and architecture standards and procedures for my clients European operation whilst supporting the business globally. Your primary functions within the organisation are:

Server Infrastructure:- Working with the infrastructure lead and Third-Party Service providers provides a reliable and highly available service to the users.

Network Infrastructure:- Working with the infrastructure lead and network team is to provide an IT infrastructure which allows the required business applications to run the business within Europe and globally where required.

As an Infrastructure Manager your will work closely with the Service Delivery Manager and be responsible for managing overall day-to-day operations to improve infrastructure costs, performance and end-user satisfaction, provide leadership in planning and managing operations and production support, systems and database administration and network operations ensuring systems performance and service level requirements are met, IT resource requirements are managed and continuous improvement programs are implemented by managing strategic relationships with key IT product and services providers.

You will have at least 5 years of IT experience including managing team(s) responsible for architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations and at least 3 years’ experience in areas such as network design and administration, data centre operations, database administration, and systems programming and administration.
